the good stuff about middle age

Being able to recognize bs and liars and read the minds of those younger than you.

I can say "been there, done that" to just about everything.

Finally knowing that women are full of it just like men.

Making peace with what daddy did or didn't do.

Fewer lessons to learn "the hard way"

Being okay with being out of control.

Finding it possible to consider the thoughts of others.

Recognizing that love is worth it even when it isn't always returned or received the way we'd like it to be. (Learned this one especially well with my sons.)

No longer caring what 'other people think'.

Last, but not least, knowing how to make a woman get it and knowing that, unlike us, they don't always want to.

good lessons. I have trouble with the transparency of people. WHen you know what a person is really all about and yet, you have to hold your tongue...so to speak. Isn't that difficult?

Self control is the hardest thing to deal with...well at least in my experiences.

Temptation too...God that's a hard one...knowing that you love or lust someone..cripes! If it's both then your really in trouble and all you want to do is be with them or shout it to the roof tops, but you can't, so you try to dissapear but you can't do that either because you are drawn to the taboo...like a moth to a flame.

I have trouble with that one.

In fact, I think that's the hardest one.

sorry for the ramble...the truth brings that out in me

Steve,

Great topic!

It will be difficult because I can't even begin to put myself back into the mindset I used to have. The mental stability I have now gives me the opportunity to really analyze things in a way I could have never done 13 years go.

I think I would have lived up to most of the expectations that folks had for me (and they were mostly bad).

I'll have to sit on that one for awhile but thanks for the food for thought.
